When we look at McDonald’s Menu, most US customers will be glad that they do not see items like “Vegemite Sandwiches” or “Shaka Shaka Chicken” on the menu board. While the McDonald’s menu is creative and ever changing, most American customers want to see their US favorites: the Big Mac and other burgers, chicken sandwiches, McNuggets, shakes, McDrinks, and, of course, those fries. Sure, true fans may go for a wrap or a Jalapeño Double Burger, but that’s about as adventurous as it gets. When it comes to the McDonald’s Menu, Americans want it American – all the way.

Started in 1955, McDonald’s was developed with American tastes in mind: Burgers, fries, soft-drinks and shakes. Even though McDonald’s has been exported to all corners of the globe, it is the uniquely American taste and McDonald’s core menu that people want. So, even though you can get a Vegemite Sandwich in Australia, or a Shaka Shaka Chicken patty Singapore, most customers still want that authentic American experience
Of course, the McDonalds menu prices has grown a bit since the early days. In keeping with changing times and demands, McDonald’s also offers a “Favorites Under 400” menu for the calorie conscious, and the “Dollar Menu &More” featuring specials that are available for breakfast and throughout the day. In addition, Extra Value Meals, Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals – food combinations “bundled” into meals and offered at special prices – are part of the McDonald’s menu.
McDonald’s Failures
There have, of course, been a few McFailures over the decades. The McLobster sandwich (a very expensive experiment), the Arch Deluxe (a high-end sandwich geared towards adults) and the Hula Burger (meatless –with pineapple) just did not go anywhere. And who can forget the McHotdog? Probably everybody. But the McDonald’s menu certainly reflects a number of successful innovations over the years, and seasonal favorites, like the McRib sandwich have customers coming back year after year.
