Longhorn Steakhouse may never have become the giant success that it is today if it hadn’t been for a terrible blizzard in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982. A former manager at Steak and Ale, George McKerrow, Jr. opened the first Longhorn Steakhouse location on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, across from a very popular bar that a couple of celebrated local journalists often frequented.
McKerrow opened his steakhouse in 1981 and had struggled throughout his first year in business. Then, when a terrible winter storm hit and stranded thousands of commuting workers in the city, McKerrow served them and offered $1 specials on both beverages and food. Those journalists hanging in the bar across the street heard about McKerrow’s generosity and featured his restaurant in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. From there, Longhorn Steakhouse experienced exponential growth and popularity, and by 1990 there were Longhorn Steakhouse locations all over the Southeast and venturing into the Midwest, Southwest, and even Puerto Rico.
Today there are more than 370 Longhorn Steakhouse locations in 35 states across the country, each of which offers fresh-cooked steak and delicious lunch and dinner specials in an Old West setting that’s perfect for a family dinner or for lunch with your coworkers. The Longhorn Steakhouse lunch menu includes more than 30 combos at prices as low as $7 – $9 for delicious steak sandwiches, chili cheese fries, house made kettle chips, spicy chicken bites, sweet corn fritters, fried green tomatoes, a seven-pepper sirloin salad, soups, sandwiches, and so much more.
With so many amazing dishes and appetizers to choose from, it can be easy to forget that Longhorn also specializes in a few very choice cocktails. Enjoy discounts during the Longhorn Steakhouse happy hour on all kinds of beverages, and try their amazing strawberry and signature margaritas whenever you want to take the edge off of your day and enjoy a thirst-quenching drink with your mouthwatering steak or other entrée.

This decadent chocolate lava cake is topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled to perfection with chocolate and caramel sauce for the perfect end to any meal.
