IHOP has been around for over 50 years. IHOP began in 1958 as the International House of Pancakes. Its first location was in Toluca, California, near Los Angeles. Presently there are more than 1500 IHOP restaurants, with locations in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Over the course of the years, and due to some corporate mergers, the name was shortened to “IHOP” – the name most people know it by today. While IHOP was originally started to serve great breakfasts to hungry people, IHOP now serves lunch and dinner as well. And, of course, breakfast any time of the day.

IHOP’s Breakfasts

IHOP breakfastIHOP has always served fantastic breakfasts, with pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelets, and all the usual breakfast meats and sides that make a breakfast filling and complete. Hungry diners can order breakfast combos (bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, toast, pancakes, etc) or mix and match any number of yummy breakfast items. But if you are not in the mood for breakfast, you can order lunch items (sandwiches, soups, salads or hamburgers) or dinner items.

At the moment, IHOP menu prices is trying some new breakfast menu items. Some of the new menu choices are:

  1. Banana Crepes with Nutella (Four crepes topped with bananas and Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread). Yum!
  2. Blackberry Lemonade Criss-Crossant (A croissant baked a waffle iron, which is then folded and filled with lemonade-cream and topped with blackberries). Double yum!
  3. Strawberry-Rhubarb Criss-Crossant (A croissant that is baked in a waffle iron which is then folded, filled with cream and topped with strawberries and rhubarb). Sweet and tart – what a nice springtime treat!

IHOPS calories

55+ MenuIHOP also has menus for folks who may not want to consume so many calories or who may not need to eat quite so much at a single sitting. The “55+ Menu” is a special menu for diners who are 55 years or older, and features smaller portions and discount pricing. What a nice idea. Kids have their own menu as well, with child oriented selections like “Create-a-face-Pancake” and the “Jr. Ham and Egg Melt”. And, if you are watching your weight, you can still take the family to breakfast and enjoy items from the “Simple & Fit” menu (which features good-for-you low cal selections).
