Jimmy John’s was founded, surprisingly, by Jimmy John (Liautaud) in 1983. Determined to create the “world’s greatest gourmet sandwich” , Jimmy Johns has done everything right. Started in the college town of Champaign, Illinois, Jimmy John’s menu prices have always been set deliberately low. This is a core principal for the company – to have real food, real fast at a decent price. That concept seems to have caught on, as today the franchise has over 2000 stores – and counting. Jimmy John’s menu includes, well…sandwiches. That’s what they do. But the difference is that they use real everything: real meat, real freshly cut veggies, real bread that is baked in-house daily. The sides are chips, soft drinks, and cookies for desert. That’s it. No fondue, no fusion cuisine. So, while Jimmy John’s menu and price list might seem simplistic, the excellence of their sandwiches and their dedication to quality is simply first rate.
