There are some seriously amazing foods at Hardee’s. The menu screams business with the idea of custom building your meal: beginning with a charbroiled burger, chicken, or a red burrito.

The seasoned ground beef, chicken, or beans is mixed with re-fried beans, hot sauce, and melted cheese in a tortilla wrap – freshly made. The menu prices greatly reflect the time and quality that is put into the different menu items.

This company began in 1960 in Greenville, North Carolina. The first franchise was buildt about five months later and the burger chain has become a favorite in the Midwestern and the southeastern United States. Originally, the business was known for biscuits, though hamburgers and other items were available. By 1970, there were about 200 locations – and even one in Germany!

The focus on biscuits changed in 2003. The Thickburger line was added to the Hardee’s menu, which gave them an established place as a leader in the industry with quality and taste. This line of burgers focuses on the 1/3-, 1/2-, and 2/3-pound burgers that are made with the same 100% Angus beef – like the other burgers on the menu.

Another big milestone for the business was the 1,000th opening of a franchise – in 15 years. The immense popularity of the biscuits – added in 1970 – and the other menu items up to that point had pushed the franchise to a monumental accomplishment.

The next major accomplishment that Hardee’s made was in the 1980s, with Cinnamon ‘N’ Raisin biscuits. The California Raisins go on to become national icons, becoming one of the best high-profile endorsements that the company has enjoyed in its years of business.

Later that same decade, the Burger Chef franchise becomes part of Hardee’s and the 2,000th location opened. Within only 25 years of business, Hardee’s had 2,000 locations worldwide. The large franchise is a lot of work to get going in such success in 25 years.

The Frisco Burger becomes the next big thing at Hardee’s in the 1990s. This burger had tomato, bacon, and cheese. The twist on the traditional burger came with the bun – it was sourdough toast. Later that same decade, Hardee’s became part of the CKE Restaurants business. The thickburgers launched in 2003 as part of the Revolution, and later the Monster Thickburger joined the line.

Then Hardee’s made an interesting twist. The quality was put to the test with a candid camera ad campaign. Real customers would pay upwards of $14 dollars for a Thickburger while a hidden camera filmed them. This ad campaign was called the Fake Restaurant campaign. Hardee’s menu proved that it could stand up to even the most critical of tests.

CKE Restaurants include Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. Both offer quality food, and Hardee’s has a long standing tradition of making their biscuits from scratch.
