While you know Domino’s as one of the top pizza delivery choices in the world, the restaurant comes from very humble beginnings that might surprise you. In 1960, brothers James and Tom Monaghan purchased a single pizza restaurant in Michigan, DomiNick’s. To buy the restaurant, they paid $500 down and then borrowed just $900 to pay for the whole store. And, when James wanted to sell Tom his half of the business, he took a VW Beetle that they’d been using as a delivery car as his payment.

James might grow to regret that decision because, by 1965, Tom had opened two more locations under the new name: Domino’s. In fact, the three dots on the Domino’s logo actually refer to the three original locations that Tom Monaghan opened in his first five years of business. Business continued to grow over the decades to come. Today Domino’s has over 10,000 locations in 70 countries and is the second-largest pizza delivery chain in the US and the largest chain worldwide.

Domino’s menu prices are always reasonable, but their specials really make ordering from Domino’s a great deal. For example, one of the most popular Domino’s specials is the “Choose Any Two” deal. Order a medium pizza with any two toppings you like, and you’ll get your choice of an order of stuffed cheese bread, pastas, 8-pieces wings, or specialty chicken for just $5.99 each.

Another of Domino’s specials that has customers raving is the $8.99 offer for any medium, two-topping, handmade pan pizza. These pizzas are thicker and fluffier than other pizzas, so they usually cost a bit more than other items on the Domino’s menu. With this special offer, though, you can get one at a big discount.

And, if you’re stopping to get food for the family during the week, there’s a Monday through Thursday carry-out special, as well. You can get any large, three-topping pizza for just $7.99. And, of course, with a Domino’s online order, you can order your pizzas, wings, cheese bread, and other delicious Domino’s menu items from your computer, tablet, or phone for either carry-out or delivery.
